How You Spend Your Resources: Further Along the Road of Progress

When was the last time you checked your progress? Keeping a personal metric to track your completion of tasks is a helpful act of discipline to get you closer to your goals. It also provides a formative evaluation of what’s working and what isn’t. Seriously, write it down!

Speaking of what’s working or not, don’t be afraid to change a few things if necessary. Being flexible but remaining focused is key. You may need to tweak things several times until you find a process or cultivate habits that elicit the results you’re seeking.

Analyze your network. But first, make sure you even have one in the first place. Be mindful of the company you keep. Are your peeps supportive and understanding of what you’re trying to accomplish? Are you surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals whose positive energy is contagious?

Lastly, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I spend my resources – time, money, energy, and attention. I wonder what it’d be like if I forced myself to only spend my time, money, energy, and attention on tasks, investments, and activities that were specifically aligned with my goals. The exception, of course, would be the things we MUST do, like getting up and going to work every day and staying fit, etc.

What sorts of outcomes would I elicit if I quit jockeying around and getting hung up in analysis paralysis? How quickly would I be able to transform my life if I streamlined and distilled every decision I made, and only leveraged my resources toward the pursuit of my endeavors?

I’m not suggesting we live our lives with this level of rigidity all the time, but I do assert that there are times when it is absolutely necessary to go into hibernation and/or incubation mode and work on the masterpiece of our own lives, in order to get to the other side of some very important life-changing experiences.

Just some thoughts to get you revved up into high gear!
